In π˜—π˜¦π˜¦π˜³ 𝘎𝘺𝘯𝘡, Henrik Ibsen places Peer at the edge of death, peeling the onion as he confronts the absence of a stable self. Survival, in that moment, feels almost like an evasion, something to be justified.
The film begins where Ibsen leaves off: here, Peer peels the onion at twenty-four, and survival is no longer an evasion of the question of the self, but its answer.
